It is common in SGV. Buildings that contains the readable shapes such as arches, domes, spires that is not like the signage with text, but are objects that contain information. This project is looking at the shed in San Gabriel Valley and produce the toy set and comic book that express the idea of accessories and architecture.

I would like to first introduce this street elevation of Taipei. What is immediately noticeable is not the architecture itself but the signage. The signage composites the façade that represent the characteristic of the building.
If you think about it more, this concept is similar to the concept of Mr. Potato head. While the potato head himself is consider an object, it is actually a composition of accessories. With the selection of different accessory objects, Mr. potato head can present different characteristic.
I would say this idea of accessories can be describe as people wearing hats. When a human being decide to put on a hat, it creates different impression to others just because the hat’s identity that changes how people look at a person. Let say if I put up a police man hat. People will most likely recognize me as a police man, no matter who I actually am.
When you look at the accessories in SGV, there are different scales of accessories.
The small cut -out signage that attaches on the storefront. The medium T-bar on by the main street. These two are both signage but accessories also come in a larger scale. The decorated shed studies by Venturi and Scott brown highlighted the function of the readable objects that are scaled as an architecture. It is also common in SGV. Buildings that contains the readable shapes such as arches, domes, spires that is not like the signage with text, but are objects that contain information. I would say that this is an extension of decorated shed.

All accessories contain its own identities, like different hats has different identities. A police man hat and a fire fighter hat have different identity.
So when we talk about architecture, the identity of the arches was originally build to span a road. However, the change of/color, material and location can change the identity of the arc although the object shape did not change. I am interested in the icon of objects in architecture instead of using text message.
So if you put it on the white house or on single family housing, it will look completely different.

With the introduction I would like to introduce the story – accessory
The story is based on a toy set and the manual of accessories. It is a toy set but at the same time, it is a world consist of tiny figures. A set of flash cards are also part of the toys that introduce some of the different properties of each individual objects. If the objects are inserted in the right place, the new programs will appear like the previous page. However, if the objects are insert wrong and the girl is forcing it to fit. Disaster will occur and cause violence in the box.
